Did Martin's role as a widower protecting his large brood make you wonder what you'd do in a similar situation?

Well, sure, you think about those things. You think, "What if?" Particularly when you're around seven little people.

Was it emotionally difficult to imagine that?

You don't have to use your imagination very much to imagine the loss of a child. The yuks are a little harder, the timing. But no matter what it is, somewhere along the line, you have to align it with the truth or else it won't work.
